Sugar!!! What sweet dreams and childhood memories are made of. Oh yes, and wouldn't it be nice if the world was made of chocolate?
I know right? Nostalgia!
But as I grew up all I heard was how bad it was for my teeth and me.
Nope, not the case, to some extent of course.
What is sugar?
It is a carbohydrate. Yip, no surprises there.
Sugar is made up of monosaccharides and disaccharides including fructose, glucose, and galactose.
Disaccharides are made up of two monosaccharides and one glycosidic bond.
Ok, enough of all that science talk for the day.
Misconceptions about Our Sweet Friends
So I will just jot down a list and you can laugh with me:
Sugar causes Cancer
Sugar makes children hyperactive
Eliminate sugar from your diet
Avoid fruit when dieting

What happens when we refuse to Have Sweetness in Life?
Well apart from being a very bitter person, and no, this is not one of my lame jokes in my articles, you become irritable, anxious, and nervous.
This is partially due to a decrease in dopamine release.
Do not start eating spoonfuls of sugar just yet because just like everything else, there's a catch.
How much sugar do you need?
Our brains require 130 grams of sugar (glucose) per day. Glucose is produced when the body breaks down carbohydrates which are made up of sugars and starches.
Side Note: Glucose is the most important for our bodies. It is the main sugar found in our blood and is also this machine's (your body's) preferred source of energy.

Bitter Conclusion
We have been so strung up on cutting out all forms of sugar from our daily meals that it has become an obsession for some people.
I think it's time we step back and realize that nature has never given us anything bad. We take the good from nature and turn it into bad things like sodas.
